Dover Sherborn Soccer Club

Uniforms/Equipment

Important - Dover Sherborn Soccer Uniform Process

Over the past several years, parents and coaches have frequently asked the DS Soccer Club to update team uniforms.  While it has served us well, our gear is dated and the current system was not ideal.  The jerseys themselves are heavy and hot, the sizing has caused a hassle for many players, they have to be changed or exchanged most seasons, and the number system causes headaches for players, parents, and coaches alike who have to administer seasonal "uniform triage".   The club has also involuntarily been in the uniform business, holding a mountain of polyester at Caryl school.

After considerable research, the DS Soccer club has decided not only on new uniforms, but also on a new system, one that we expect will be more user friendly for everybody.  The club has contracted with Tri Valley Sports in Medway to provide custom fitted uniforms for every player starting in the fall 2009 season.  Many of our neighboring towns including Needham, Westwood, and Millis now use as a similar system.

How Will It Work?

Players will visit Tri Valley to pick up their kit, and will come away with a uniform that fits well and should last for several seasons.  The material is the new "wicking" fabric that is much lighter than the current jerseys, has a cool factor that the old uniforms lack.  The per player price for these uniforms is $50 per player, a significant discount over the store rack rates.

The new uniform system applies to all players in grades 4 to 8

Players will choose their sizes at the store ( Tri Valley Sports 106 Main St Rt. 109 in Medway, Hours- M-F 10-6, Sat 9:30-4:00 . Phone 508-533-5080 minutes from Dover/Sherborn), pay, and pick up their uniform all in one visit. Always a perfect fit.  Please do not attempt to go pick up your uniform until rosters are done!

NOTE: The player will be assigned a number that he or she will keep throughout the following years as a DS Soccer Club player.  No more changing numbers.

What, you ask, happens with the mountain of old uniforms?  One of our board members has found a charitable organization that can use the entire supply to outfit a league that would otherwise could not afford uniforms.

Important Note On Player Registration Fees

Your registration fees make the soccer season possible:

• The club pays a per-player "Field fee" to our towns, a fee which increased by 60% last year.

• Both our membership in BAYS, and our field rental costs, have doubled in the past year.

• Other significant costs to the club include equipment (goals, balls, etc), and referee pay   (which are for often first jobs for many of our children!).

This is a similar scenario that other town club sports also face.  An important difference, however, is that many other town club sports cost over $200 per player per season (some more than $300).  In the case of DS Soccer, player fees have not changed, and remain a relative bargain even including the new uniform cost. The uniform expense is not expected to be annual.
